Peter Roeser represents and advises clients in a variety of complex business disputes. His experience includes litigation matters involving claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, trade secret misappropriation, defamation, unfair competition, violation of non-compete agreements, breach of asset purchase agreements, trademarks, trade dress and other forms of business disputes. He has represented clients in state and federal court proceedings, arbitrations and mediations throughout the country. Mr. Roeser also serves as the head of the firm's Continuing Legal Education training and development program.

Representative Cases:

  • Mr. Roeser completed a two-week jury trial in which G&E successfully represented a Chicago-based investment company for breach of a long-term securities contract. The jury awarded damages in favor of the client.
  • Obtained summary judgment for an investment company on the issue of liability in a breach of contract case brought against one of the world's largest insurance conglomerates. In that same case, the defendant was ordered to pay a six-figure sanction for violating the protective order.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an automobile industry manufacturer in a contract dispute brought against a former agent. Mr. Roeser successfully argued the case to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a tobacco paper distributor in litigation against a competitor in a case involving claims of trade dress infringement, defamation, unfair competition, and false advertising.

Mr. Roeser also has significant emergency litigation experience (e.g., requests for temporary or preliminary injunctions). He has represented and advised businesses and individuals in post-employment disputes such as claims for trade secret misappropriation, breach of confidentiality agreements, violation of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. These representations span a wide variety of industries including financial services (both signatories and non-signatories of the Protocol For Broker Recruiting), health care, publishing and insurance.
